Pawel URBAŃSKI – BIOGRAPHY


Pawel Urbanski was born on 15 April 1982. In July 1995 lost sight what changed his life.


He is the first blind person from Poland and third in the world, who has received a full scholarship in United World College  in Norway. There’s where his great passion was born – extreme sports.


During the his education in college he passed his matura exams as the first and so far the only blind person from Poland. During those year, together with 3 colleagues he organized and took part in the Interrail Scandinavia – Norway, Sweden and Finland.


After finishing college began graduate studies in economic, University of Gdansk, where he was the first blind student. For several years took part in the work of the  “Without Barriers” University Commission . During the fourth year of study, he returned to the sports – climbing, and then to judo, which he actively cultivates today.


Pawel Urbanski from III year of studies made in to the individual program, which is awarded to only a very few people on the basis of very good results in science. He then participated in a high-level technology conferences, where he presented his own case studies.


He’s IT Profiessional and Economist involved in modeling and optimization of business processes, designing content management systems, circulation and archiving of documents and data integration and analysis.

From July to September 2008 he worked for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration of the Department of Information Technology in the projects of government-class e-government. He also took an active part in creating the first integrated platform for such services in Poland.


So far participated and coorganized three trips as part of the project called “Crown of Earth – I see it differently”:


– Aconcagua (2007) Got to the 5600 meters without any problems. If not unfortunate accident was close to riching the summit. Pawel twisted his knee and had to finish the expedition.


– Kilimanjaro (2008) Climbed Kilimanjaro as the first blind person from Poland and one of very few in the world.


– Elbrus (2008) After 3 days of the fastest climb Pawel has ever experienced he decided to withdraw due to extremely bad weather conditions. he got to the 5100 meters on the third of climbing, what means he was attacking the summit 3 days faster than it is usulaly done.

On 26th January Pawel Urbanski goes to the conquest of Mount Kosciuszko in Australia.
